The world
Regions
Seven regions, each with its own level band, its own creatures, and its own tier of loot.
The survival world is divided into seven regions. Each has a level band that decides how strong the mobs are, what the loot chests contain, and which creatures you will meet.
The bands run end to end from 1 to 50, and they overlap - the border between two regions is a gradual change, not a wall.
| Region | Band | What lives there | The boss |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aurel Coast | 1-5 | Zombies, skeletons, spiders. Cows, sheep, pigs, chickens | Kraken |
| Verdant Plains | 5-10 | Adds creepers, and horses | Plains Minotaur |
| Sunstorm Desert | 10-20 | Husks, skeletons, spiders, creepers. Camels and rabbits | Sandworm |
| Evergreen Wilds | 15-25 | Zombies, skeletons, creepers, spiders. Wolves | Wendigo |
| Ashen Expanse | 20-30 | Adds magma cubes | Infernal Dragon |
| Frostpeak Range | 30-40 | Strays, skeletons, zombies, creepers. Goats | Yeti |
| Mistvale Coast | 40-50 | Everything, plus witches | Leviathan |
Each region also has its own ladder of custom creatures - three tiers and a boss. The full list is in the Bestiary.
Reading the bands
A region's band is what the region is built for, and it cuts both ways:
- Going early is punishing. A Lv 10 player in Frostpeak Range is fighting mobs thirty levels
above them.
- Going late is fine, but slow. High-level mobs in a low-level region still take time to kill,
and still drop the region's loot - which will be beneath you.
The bands are also what the loot tables key off, so if you want better chest contents you have to move outward.
Getting around
Every region has a waypoint. Unlock it by right-clicking the waypoint NPC, and you can travel between any unlocked waypoints for free - see Waypoints.
Walking is still how you find things. The waypoints are for getting back.
Spawn is safe
Within 128 blocks of spawn, nothing hostile spawns and no spawners exist. It is the only place on the server where you can stand still outdoors without watching your back.
Everything outside that radius is fair game at any hour.
Daylight does not save you
Mobs in the survival world do not burn in sunlight. A zombie at noon is exactly as dangerous as one at midnight. The surface is not safe just because the sun is up - and the custom creatures do not care about the time at all, with one exception: the Storm Harpy in Aurel Coast only appears at night.
Elites are off
The server has a system for "elite" mobs - tougher variants with a red prefix. Every region's elite chance is currently set to zero, so you will not meet one. If that changes, it will be noticeable.
