Fishing
A 9.3% chance per catch of something extra - including crate keys.
Fishing works exactly as it does in vanilla. Elderian adds a bonus roll on top: every time you land a fish, there is a 9.3% chance of an extra reward appearing in your inventory.
Nothing is taken away. The fish you would have caught, you still catch.
What the bonus roll can give
| Reward | Chance |
|---|---|
| 250 Coins | 2.0% |
| 1 Starter Key | 1.0% |
| 1 Adventurer Key | 0.5% |
| 1 Royal Key | 0.2% |
| 1 Elderian Key | 0.1% |
| Sharpness V book | 0.5% |
| Efficiency V book | 0.5% |
| Protection IV book | 0.5% |
| Unbreaking III book | 0.5% |
| Mending book | 0.5% |
| Fortune III book | 0.5% |
| Enchanted fishing rod (Lure III, Luck of the Sea III, Unbreaking III) | 0.5% |
| Enchanted diamond sword (Sharpness IV, Unbreaking III) | 0.5% |
| Enchanted diamond pickaxe (Efficiency IV, Unbreaking III) | 0.5% |
| Enchanted diamond chestplate (Protection IV, Unbreaking III) | 0.5% |
| 3 Diamonds | 0.5% |
The remaining 90.7% of catches give nothing extra.
Fishing is a key source
This is the part worth noticing. Fishing can produce any of the four crate keys, including the Elderian key - the only crate key that is otherwise bought with 500 coins or won from another crate.
Put together, that is a 1.8% chance per catch of some crate key. Over a few hundred catches, fishing will out-produce almost any other free key source.
The coins are the other draw: 2% of catches pay 250 coins, which is two and a half Starter keys.
Broadcasts
Two results are announced to the whole server:
- Royal Key (0.2%)
- Elderian Key (0.1%)
Both are rate-limited, so a lucky streak will not flood chat - at most one announcement per minute server-wide, and no more than one per player every five minutes. A suppressed announcement still gives you the reward. Silence does not mean you missed out.
The practical version
Fishing is the slowest reliable income on the server and the best one for a player who cannot fight yet. A level 3 player with a fishing rod in Aurel Coast has exactly the same odds as a level 50 player in Mistvale - the table has no level requirement and no region restriction.
If you are starting out and the mobs are too strong, this is what to do while you level.
